VIVAnews - Bulgaria is holding an interest in buying coal from Indonesia. The Eastern European country has also conveyed its intention to import Indonesian palm oil and offer the development of palm oil terminal.

The plan is one of significant results of Indonesian economic and international relation officials’ meeting with Bulgaria in Bilateral Consultative Forum in Lombok on Thursday, November 19.

Indonesian delegations were led by Foreign Affairs Department Director General for the US and Europe, Retno L.P. Marsudi while Bulgaria was represented by Senior Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marin Raykov and Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Evgeny Angelov.

Foreign Affairs Department press release says that during the meeting, both delegations agreed to improve bilateral economic collaboration in energy and agriculture.

In energy sector, Bulgaria reveals its interest in purchasing coal from Indonesia as the source of energy. One of Bulgarian biggest companies, XINAGON will also buy coal from Indonesian corporations in East and South Kalimantan.

As for agricultural sector, Bulgaria welcomes Indonesia’s intention to conduct market expansion of Indonesian agricultural products to Europe. The products include cocoa, coffee, vanilla, black pepper and white pepper. Another Bulgaria’s interest involves buying palm oil products from Indonesia.  The country’s government also offers collaboration in the development of palm oil terminal in Black Sea harbor, Bulgaria.

Meanwhile, both countries’ trading activities keep showing a positive trend from year to year. In 2008, the trading value significantly went up 78 percent from US$ 49.13 million in 2007 to US$ 87.76 million. Both countries have also agreed to intensify direct trading cooperation through, for example, inter-commerce chamber collaboration.
