VIVAnews - The government will be passing on the renewable energy power generator development investment to a private party.

The step will be taken if the government considers the State Budget insufficient to fund the project.

National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Chief Armida S Alisjahbana said the development of renewable energy was indeed important. The plan has been included in the prioritized five-year program prepared by the Yudhoyono administration.

“We’ll try to put the plan in the Public Private Partnership (PPP). If it’s not possible, it will be given only to a private party,” Alisjahbana said after opening the Sea Flow Energy Development Seminar at the Bappenas office in Jakarta on Monday, November 16.

Deputy Coordinating Minister for the Economy on Energy and Mineral Resources, Wimpi S Tjetjep, said the government is working on the one year and five years programs while the 100-day program has been designed and delivered to the President. Out of 15 selected programs in the 100-day program, there are four energy issue-related programs.

“The programs include overcoming electricity issues, improving the infrastructure, facing climate and environmental changes and collecting other funding sources outside the State and Regional Budget,” Tjetjep said.

Earlier, former Bappenas chief Paskah Suzetta said the total amount of investment funding was up to Rp 2,100 trillion. According to Suzetta, the government is only able to fund 30 percent of the amount using the State Budget.
