VIVAnews – Bank Indonesia (BI) sees that the inflation in 2009 is still lower than the normal pattern. If inflation rate ranges around five percent, it is predicted that this year's inflation will be lower than four percent.

According to Senior Deputy Governor Darmin Nasution, the inflation decrease, which is the lowest in history, is caused by the improving currency exchange rate and the decreasing public expectation on inflation.

The indication on this is that the core inflation is approaching the lowest number. “It is normal due to the slowing global and Indonesia's economy,” Nasution said.

Meanwhile, the 2010 inflation is predicted to have its normal pattern around 5 ± 1 percent along with the strengthening domestic economic activities and commodities' prices.

The National Statistics Agency recorded 0.19 percent of inflation in October 2009 with 116.68 on the consumer price index. The inflation rate for January – October 2009 is 1.48 percent, while the year-on-year inflation rate (October 2008 – October 2009) reaches 2.57 percent.
