VIVAnews - Belgian tennis player Yanina Wickmayer signed out of the 2009 Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions in Bali, as she allegedly failing to report her wherabouts to anti-doping officials three times. Her position is replaced by Russian Vera Dushevina.

Wickmayer should have had another one match against Spanish qualifier Anabel Medina Garrigues in Group B qualification on Friday, Nov 6. It would have been a key match for the young player to become a semifinalist.

However, Wickmayer decided to fall off of the tournament after the Flemish anti-doping tribunal has suspended her.

"This morning, the Flemish anti-doping tribunal has reported that Wickmayer fails to report to anti-doping officials. Given the information, she decided to stand back from the tournament," said Sony Ericsson WTA Tour CEO Stacey Allaster in a press conference today, Nov 6.

The decision opens the path for Dushevina to play against Garrigues.

Nonetheless, whatever it will be on the pitch, Dushevina will not get to the semifinal because she only played once. If the Russian loses, Kimiko Date Krumm, who has won a game, will be against Garrigues as regards winning percentage.

"Wickmayer's withdrawal has left a space for another player to play. However, Dushevina cannot step up to the semifinal because she only plays once," said 2009 Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions Tournament Director Kevin Livesey.
