VIVAnews – The government finally decided to use a floating LNG plant for the gas processing project of the Abadi gas field, Masela block, owned by a Japan-based oil and gas company Inpex Corporation.
Based on data publicized by the upstream regulator BP Migas, the floating LNG plant will be located off the Arafura Sea.
The field is predicted to produce 4.5 million tons per year of LNG and 130,000 barrels of condensate per day. The produced LNG refinery will be directly distributed to the buyers using an LNG tanker. Inpex is planning to set up a logistics base on Yamdena island to support the refinery operation.
Earlier, Director General of Oil and Gas Evita Herawati Legowo said that the government would appoint an independent consultant to specify the certainty of the plan to construct the LNG refinery at the Masela block.
Legowo said that the assignment is expected to make possible inputs for the government in order to take the best decision.
Inpex Masela is planning to develop Abadi gas field located on the offshore of Arafura Sea in sea whose depth is between 400 and 800 meters around 150 kilometers southwest of Saumlaki, Maluku.
